When our CEO was a kid, he knew exactly what he wanted to be when he grew up.
A bus driver.
Not a tech entrepreneur. Not the owner of a software and marketing company. Not someone talking about websites, SEO, automation, AI, and lead generation.
Nope.
A bus driver.
And if we're being completely honest, somewhere deep down, he probably still wants to be one.
There was something magical about it. Sitting up high. Knowing all the routes. Greeting people every day. Being the captain of a giant red bus full of stories, characters, and adventures.
Life, however, had other plans.
Today, he runs Marketing Balloon, helping businesses grow online, build brands, and reach customers. It's a long way from Route 42, but the dream never really disappeared.
And he's not the only one.
Our Senior Developer had his future mapped out too.
He wanted to drive an ice cream van.
Not build software. Not write code. Not spend hours solving technical problems.
An ice cream van.
Think about it. Driving around all day, making people smile, dispensing happiness one cone at a time, all while that famous tune echoed through the streets.
As childhood career choices go, it's hard to beat.
Then there's our Customer Success Manager.
Once upon a time, they wanted to be the next Donald Trump from The Apprentice.
Back then, he was the businessman everyone seemed to talk about. Sharp suits. Big boardrooms. Big deals.
Let's just say... that dream has aged about as well as a yoghurt left on a radiator.
Moving swiftly on.
Our sales guru had bigger ambitions.
Singer.
Dancer.
Famous person.
The full package.
The kind of dream that involved sold-out arenas, screaming fans, award ceremonies, and probably at least one dramatic autobiography.
Instead, they now spend their days charming prospects, closing deals, and somehow still performing for an audience—just a different one.
Funny how life works.
Ask any child what they want to be and you'll hear some incredible answers.
Astronaut.
Footballer.
Rock star.
Actor.
Pilot.
Firefighter.
Zookeeper.
Formula 1 driver.
Movie director.
Explorer.
Professional wrestler.
You rarely hear a six-year-old announce:
"I'd like a career in compliance management and spreadsheet optimisation."
Children dream differently.
They see the exciting bits.
The adventure.
The spotlight.
The uniforms.
The applause.
The fun.
What they don't see is the lonely side.
The astronaut floating millions of miles from home.
The singer spending months on tour away from family.
The footballer training every day while everyone else enjoys weekends.
The bus driver working early mornings before the city wakes up.
The ice cream van owner working long hours while everyone else enjoys summer.
The actor hearing "no" hundreds of times before hearing one "yes."
As kids, we see the dream.
As adults, we discover the reality behind it.
The truth is, most people don't end up doing exactly what they imagined.
Sometimes opportunities appear from nowhere.
Sometimes responsibilities take over.
Sometimes bills need paying.
Sometimes confidence disappears.
Sometimes we simply discover new passions.
Life has a funny habit of taking unexpected turns.
You might have wanted to be a pilot and become an accountant.
You might have wanted to be a footballer and become a business owner.
You might have wanted to be a singer and end up leading sales meetings.
None of those outcomes are failures.
They're just different routes.
And sometimes the destination ends up being better than the original plan.
